Oder vereinfacht gesagt: Lichtenergie wird zu einem hochwirksamen Strahl geb\u00fcndelt.<br \/>\nDazu wird in einem speziellen Geh\u00e4use ein Medium, zum Beispiel eine Gasmischung mit Kohlenstoffdioxid, mit Energie stimuliert. Dabei werden Photonen (Lichtteilchen) freigesetzt und Spiegel sorgen f\u00fcr eine Kettenreaktion, die immer weitere Photonen freisetzt. Mittels eines halbdurchl\u00e4ssigen Spiegels werden diese Photonen geb\u00fcndelt und es entsteht der sogenannte Laserstrahl, der zum Beispiel mit einer Linse weiter verst\u00e4rkt und ausgerichtet werden kann. Das geb\u00fcndelte Licht entspricht dem fernen Infrarotspektrum, das f\u00fcr das menschliche Auge unsichtbar ist und je nach Energieaufwand und B\u00fcndelung eine enorme Hitze erzeugen kann.
